It was a very busy couple of weeks in Joeys. We had the First Holy Communion on Saturday 23rd May . The boys had a wonderful day and looked great in their suits.

We heard some sad news that our Principal, Ms. Fitzpatrick is resigning from her job. We will miss her and wish her well in the future.

SPORTS

It has being a great year for our hurlers.  They reached the final in Croke Park. The team is a young side, full of potential. The school will go to support them in the finals this Monday 8th June. Come on Joeys!!

The footballers sadly lost their match 5 -0.

Our school sent a team of athletes to the recent Athletics Championships in Santry. Well done to Adam Rowe who came third in the hurdles and earned himself a bronze medal. Hard luck to all the other boys who sadly missed out.

Interview With Boys From 6th Class

20150521_113713

On Thursday, author Brian Gallagher visited the school. Brian’s books Across The Divide and Taking Sides have been chosen in the past for the One Book One Community Project.

Brian is involved in making a radio documentary for Newstalk. The documentary is about people who live in and around the dockland area. Three boys from Ms Quinlan’s 6th Class were chosen to speak to Brian and gave him plenty of stories about swimming in the canal, going to East Wall  water sports, going out to Howth for walks and going on the ships down at the docks

When Brian finished interviewing the three boys he told promised them that when the documentary is broadcast in Autumn,he would send the boys a copy of the interview on disk.

The boys got a great insight into the making of documentaries so watch this space …… we could have a number of future documentary makers on our hands.

Going Green for the Fifth Time!

Huge congratulations to everyone in the school who worked so hard at getting us our fifth Green School Flag. That’s quite an achievement for any school. On Tuesday three of the boys from our committee went to DCU to collect our new Flag. Keep up all of the good work boys!
